Colorado Birth and Wellness (CBW) is a growing free-standing birth center in Denver, with provider locations in Denver and Littleton. We promote physiological birth in a safe and homelike atmosphere. We have an amazing team of midwives (CNM and CPM), nurses, doulas, educators, and other birth advocates with various talents. We strongly believe in the benefits of alternative therapies for the health of our clients and have acupuncture, chiropractic, and massage available in our office.
CBW is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse who is committed to delivering high touch, evidence based, client centered care in an out of hospital setting.
Summary
Birth assistants are responsible for all clients under their scope of practice following the policies and procedures of the birth center. The birth assistant is managed by the Clinical Director. Staff midwives may delegate and supervise clinical tasks to the birth assistant as well. The administrative directors may directly supervise birth assistants with administrative tasks and responsibilities. The role of the birth assistant is to care for the client, newborn baby, and assist the midwife as needed.

Essential Duties and Scope of Responsibilities of Birth Assistant:
Available for a minimum of one 24 hour call shift per week to attend births
Is available by phone or pager at all times while on-call for births
Available to assist at birth center when called in
Ensures client, family and friends are welcomed and made to feel at home in the center
Clearly and thoroughly documents all client care provided in client’s chart
Stays at the center as needed after being called in for labor and at least 4 to 6 hours postpartum, or until the client is discharged from the center, or until replaced by another staff midwife or staff nurse
Participates in the cleaning, sterilization and restocking of birth rooms
Attend monthly meetings
Attend quarterly drills
Qualifications
Degree from an accredited nursing program
Current or ability to obtain unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in Colorado
Current BLS and NRP Certifications
Minimum of one year of nursing experience
