Our Story

CB&W is a women-owned, women operated, free standing, independent birth and wellness center offering midwifery, prenatal and postpartum care, low intervention birth, and water birth, well-person care, and more. We provide intimate, highly trained and comprehensive care. Miki and Tara set out to create a new look and feel to the birth center industry, and one that prides itself on education and advocacy. CB&W’s ethos believes that the female reproductive system is capable of birthing a baby and is a normal natural event and not a medical experience.

It all started 15 years ago when Miki and Tara became fast friends within the corporate world. They both shared, and deeply connected on the idea that their purpose and drive was meant for something bigger, something different. They soon realized that their purpose was and is supporting women through the most powerful journey given; pregnancy, birth and parenthood. After 10 years of research and development, becoming doula’s as well as educators in the birth space, Miki and Tara knew that raising money to start Colorado Birth and Wellness was their life’s goal. As Miki said, “when our passion and purpose aligned, we took off.”

Miki and Tara wanted CB&W to be approachable, intimate and have the highest quality care and education. Staffing the highest level nurse midwives and skilled, passionate doulas was their soul focus. They wanted to create a holistic option where you have everything in one place; from acupuncture, to chiropractors, to massage, to hypnobirthing class, and more. They created a space where you get to know and deeply connect with other soon to be parents and staff, within every encounter at the center. “This ten months or so of your life only happens once, every pregnancy only happens once, so let's make it full of intention, and presence. Allow the body to have choices, allow the body to have trust and allow the body to birth your baby.”

CB&W birth has created and sustained a place that feels like a sisterhood and a home, all while having the comfort of being in a highly trained facility.
