All of your prenatal care takes place at our birth center with your midwife team.
We believe that pregnancy isn’t a medical complication - it’s a natural life event. Colorado Birth & Wellness provides prenatal care for low risk families at both of our locations. Our midwife team strives to develop a relationship with each client. Our aim is to build confidence, trust, and support.
What Does Prenatal Care Look Like with Colorado Birth & Wellness?
We offer personalized care in a home-like environment where you can relax, form a relationship with your providers, and connect with your body and your baby. Appointments are much more than a blood pressure and weight check - our aim is to educate and empower you. You will listen to your baby's heartbeat, discuss any areas of concern, consult about nutrition, make care decisions, and talk about you and your partner's hopes, fears, and questions in preparation for birth and beyond.
Your prenatal appointments will be with your provider. Along the way, you will also meet our larger clinical team and doulas so that when it comes time to birth your baby you are supported by an intimate team that you already know.
We set aside 45 minutes for appointments with your provider. Individual appointments increase in frequency in the third trimester as you spend more time preparing for birth. Of course, we are always here for additional appointments and care when needed.
We offer options for genetic screening, as well as referrals for the 20-week anatomy ultrasound .
Your prenatal care will be enhanced by onsite healthy pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and newborn care classes to help you prepare.
Am I a candidate for birth center care?
Birth Centers are a great option for healthy, low-risk parents and babies. To help keep birth center birth safe, Colorado Birth & Wellness follows state regulations for birth center delivery. We will work hard to partner with you to help you maintain a healthy pregnancy and to achieve the birth you want. Certain pre-existing conditions or conditions that develop during pregnancy may make a person ineligible to deliver at the center. The most common of these include:
Gestational Diabetes requiring medication
Multiples
Hypertension or Preeclampsia
BMI greater than 40 pre-pregnancy
Active drug or alcohol use throughout pregnancy (including THC or nicotine)
Other conditions that may impact the safety of an out-of-hospital birth
