Julia Midwifery

BJulia started her journey in birth work as a labor & delivery nurse in 2010. She felt at home in the birth environment right away, and soon felt there should be more options for families than what was offered in the hospital. She began apprenticing as a midwife in 2013 and returned to her home state of Colorado as a licensed midwife 2019. She was a home birth midwife prior to coming to Colorado Birth & Wellness, and she strives to create a home-like atmosphere for her pregnant and birthing clients. One of Julia’s passions is working towards better access to home and birth center care for all who need it, and expanding birth equity throughout the country.

Julia earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Harding University, and her Certified Professional Midwife license through the North American Registry of Midwives. Through this process she has been fortunate enough to work in various technologically advanced hospitals, as well as many low-resourced birth settings throughout the world. Her practice philosophy has grown in many ways, including a commitment to affirming all birthing families and being a lifelong learner!

When she isn’t catching babies, Julia manages home IV infusions, and in her free time she enjoys soaking in everything Colorado has to offer. You can often find her on hiking and biking trails with her husband Sean and dog Odie. She’s also still trying to get her backyard herbal projects to take off!
