Is birth center care right for me?

Birth Centers are a great option for healthy, low-risk people and babies. To help keep birth center birth safe, Colorado Birth and Wellness follows state regulations for birth center delivery. We work hard to help you maintain a healthy pregnancy and achieve the birth you want, but certain pre-existing conditions or conditions that develop during pregnancy may make you ineligible to deliver with us. The most common of these include:

  • We are not able to accept transfers after 32 weeks

  • History of more than one Cesarean birth*

  • Gestational Diabetes requiring medication

  • Hypertension or preeclampsia

  • BMI greater than 40 (calculate your BMI here)

  • Active drug or alcohol use throughout pregnancy (including THC)

  • Other conditions that may impact the safety of an out-of-hospital birth

If you have questions about a particular situation, please feel free to call or email us to schedule a consult with our Clinical Director.

Please Note:

Attending a Meet & Greet is the best first step in deciding if this is the right place for your family. Colorado Birth and Wellness has two locations - the Denver Center for Birth and Wellness and Hygge Birth and Baby. Right now, all births are taking place at Hygge Birth and Baby.
