Staff Doula
Position Title: Birth Doula
Position Location: Colorado Birth and Wellness (CBW), home of Denver Center for Birth and Wellness and Hygge Birth and Baby.
Summary: This experienced doula would provide labor support to birth center clients in-home, birth center and hospital if transferred as part of our doula team. The secondary function of this doula is to support birth center operations via birth assisting and general team support where needed. We are seeking a person that loves to nourish families through acts of service. This position is a one year commitment.
Essential Duties and Scope of Responsibilities:
Provide physical, educational and emotional support to birth center families in the home, birth center or hospital after transfer.
Utilize expertise to provide comfort techniques and optimal fetal positioning techniques with an emphasis on providing support using a variety of coping techniques and comfort measures, taking individual client preferences and needs into account.
On-call availability 2-4 days a week, occasional evenings and weekdays for 24 hours shifts
Assist midwife and nurse by providing a hand with cleaning/housekeeping duties at the birth center postpartum, as needed or appropriate:
Cleaning kitchen
Washing/sanitizing laundry
Cleaning birth rooms to prepare for the next family
Tidying areas during and after birth to keep a clutter free environment to birth in.
Restock birth rooms with essentials for birth
Assist in meal making/ordering for family/staff
Attend monthly doula/client Meet and Greets
Attend monthly staff meetings
Attend Emergency Drills
Able to give a 1 year commitment to the role
Special Skills/Licenses/Training/Certifications Necessary:
Certified as a Birth/Labor Doula
Holds current BLS
NRP preferred
Cannot have a conflicting on-call schedule privately or elsewhere
Agreeable to travel to client homes with own transportation, proof of insurance, valid driver's license and background check
Ability to perform lifting and bending movements without hindrance.
Ability to work long hours, supporting birthing people, support people, and providers.
The Ideal Candidate:
At least 5 years experience working directly with families in a birth support role providing client support during active labor, birth, and postpartum periods
Extensive knowledge of comfort techniques that can be safely used in labor such as positioning, rebozo, massage, hypnosis, breathing, counter pressure, relaxation etc.
Has an eye for detail.
Strong ability to manage high stress situations.
Self-motivated, strong work ethic.
Thirst to learn more and grow
Sensitive to cultural differences and able to support families of all types in a judgement free space
Compensation:
Part-time, hourly pay dependent on experience
Additional per-diem earnings based on support provided
Future opportunities possible based on program growth and individual motivation
Mileage reimbursement for residential assignments
