Doula Services

Colorado Birth & Wellness is committed to equipping our clients with as many tools as possible to ensure an empowered and supported birth. Our Colorado Birth & Wellness Staff Doula team and Mentee Program offers clients empowerment through non-medical physical, emotional, and informational support before, during and immediately after the birth of your baby. Studies have shown that having a compassionate support person decreases the need for pharmaceutical pain management and increases the rate of successful, vaginal births and satisfying birth experiences. Our CB&W doula team has extensive experience in out of hospital birth and works closely with our midwives to support birthing people on their journey. Our team also has extensive experience in and training with hypnobirthing techniques.

DOULA SERVICES:

CB&W Doulas will provide resources and education through prenatal support. A member of our doula team and/or mentee team will lead or participate in your birth rehearsal in your preferred birth suite. You will also have a one-on-one consultation with a member of our team to discuss your specific birth preferences in our center and in the event of a transfer, and anything else that might help our team best support you and your birth team.

When you think you might be in labor or have a need for support please call the doula on-call number so that we can support you throughout your birthing journey. We will support you via the phone or text until you determine you would like physical support and we can meet you at your house (as applicable) or at the birth center. Please allow 60-90 minutes for our team to arrive.

During labor we will provide continuous support, as defined as:

• Facilitation of your birth vision, including but not limited to comfort measures, movement, positioning, aromatherapy, additional music and/or special prayers and scripture, or anything else that feels supportive to you.

• Working with your partner(if applicable) to establish and maintain a peaceful and positive environment

• Working with the staff and providers to establish rapport and to ensure that you have enough information to make informed decisions about your care

If, at any point in your pregnancy or labor journey, you transfer care, our doula services will continue to support you. We will provide the same care at a hospital setting or home birth with an approved home birth provider and can transfer with you from the birth center if necessary. The CB&W Doula Team will follow current COVID protocols regarding in person support and safety for the birth team as a whole. Virtual support options are available at all times.

Our team will stay with you for about one to two hours post delivery and can provide support and education around breastfeeding, newborn care, and facilitate support for birthing person and their team. Our team supports the education and development of certifying doulas and might offer the opportunity to have an additional doula mentee support your labor and birth journey if you would like.

Meet Your CB&W Doulas

Emily Stuber

Emily is the Administrative Director here at Colorado Birth and Wellness. You might have met her during your initial conversation about CB&W or tour of our amazing spaces! Emily is a DONA certified birth doula and experienced yoga instructor who is committed to helping people find their best selves through connection to their body and the power of their breath.

Originally from Minnesota, Emily moved to Littleton in the summer of 2017 and has supported birth throughout the Denver Metro since October of 2017. Emily's two children were both born into water at free standing independent birth centers-her daughter was born at CB&W Lowry in February of 2020! The power of choice, support, and breath was solidified for her as a mama and a doula in these births.

Emily is certified in Prenatal and Postpartum Yoga, has studied Spinning Babies techniques, Rebozo methods, and works with many Hypnobirthing educated families. Emily finds joy in connecting with birthing people and their families as they breath--on their yoga mats, in labor, and celebrating the beautiful first breath of a sweet baby!

Ash Wilkenson

Ash is CB&W’s Lead Doula and runs our doula mentorship program. She was called to birth work early in her life, and began her active involvement in the local birth community 14 years ago. Since then, she’s continued serving families and learning more about birth. Ash is passionate about offering families a wide breadth of information to draw from and fostering trust in the birthing person and process.

Ash has education in spinning babies, herbalism and reiki energy work, and brings the experience of birthing her own 6 children to the birth room. Her favorite part of birth work is being a witness to the transformative power innate to every birth. When not working with birthing families, you can find Ash playing with her kids, or sewing up clothes for her friends and family.

Julie Allick

Julie is a well-rounded doula with experience in pregnancy, labor, and postpartum care.  Her extensive experience of providing emotional, educational, and physical support brings a calming and encouraging presence that creates a safe environment for mom, baby, and family.

Understanding that all births are unique and personal to the individual and the family involved, she creates a space of integrity, compassion, and courage. Julie connects with new parents and helps them discover who they are during each transformational step of this journey.

Julie is a self-proclaimed nerd and lifelong learner in topics ranging from holistic nutrition, exercise physiology and emotional wellbeing. She brings all that knowledge together to support families in birth from a holistic mindset.  Besides studying, Julie spends her free time with her family, exercising and baking delicious cookies.

Brittny Madden

Brittny is a certified professional doula that has served both local and global communities in prenatal, childbirth, and parent education. Her background includes a degree in child development and early childhood education. Locally she has worked as a family coach which led her to become a doula. Here is where she found her two passions for birth and family support combined.

Brittny’s wish for you is to feel confident in navigating your pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum journey. And knowing that every success is your own doing! Brittny is a HypnoBirthing educator and is always in constant pursuit to deepen her knowledge as a doula so she can be the best doula for our community.

Outside of being a professional Doula, Brittny spends the majority of her time with her family. She loves to travel to places near and far and says yes to almost every road trip opportunity she can. During the spring and summer months, she spends most of her free time with her family gardening and exploring the outdoors. Laura Walton

Laura has been a childbirth educator and birth doula since 2013 and describes herself as a birth nerd and positive birth enthusiast. She has taught classes to couples in England, Michigan and New York, and loves to help expecting couples experience the joy of childbirth. She feels blessed to have the privilege of working with couples during one of the most transformative and joyful seasons of their lives. She’s delighted to be teaching Calm Birth classes at CB&W in addition to her doula role.

Laura’s own experience with positive birth came through a chance encounter with a HypnoBirthing instructor shortly before the birth of her first child. This experience gave her the opportunity to move beyond her own fear of childbirth into a wonderful first birth experience. She loves to provide this kind of possibility for every couple she works with. She has since had 3 more wonderful birth experiences, the most recent being in the beautiful Water room at CB&W!

In her spare time she enjoys being with her husband and four crazy kids, baking, drinking tea, reading a good book and crocheting.

BreeAnn Overberg

BreeAnn is a certified doula with passion for helping families create the intimate and personal birth experience they desire. With a background in Social Work, Bree is a huge believer in evidence based care that supports each individual with a personal touch.

BreeAnn has always loved the pregnancy and birth journey, and after having her own 2 children through Birth Centers decided she wanted to become a part of the support team for other families in their own journey.

One of BreeAnn's favorite parts of the birth experience is getting to see how it unites partners in a beautiful and vulnerable way.

Outside of being a doula, BreeAnn loves spending time with her husband and 2 kids. She loves hiking, eating good food, traveling, and sleeping!

Lia Giannone

Lia is a doula and our amazing Client Coordinator and could not be more excited to work with such an amazing group of seasoned birth workers!

She stared her birth work journey as a volunteer doula at one of the local Denver hospitals. She fell in love with empowering, supporting, and advocating for new mamas since she was certified in 2017. As a doula, she found that there was so much power in holding space for these birthing humans and the powers of touch and encouraging eye contact. She has most recently left her corporate career to follow her passion of birth work and will be focusing her time on education, attending births, and postpartum support.

When she’s not working as a doula, Lia enjoys cooking, working in the garden, and going on long walks and hikes with her husband and new dog, Mozzarella.

Our Birth Support Doulas share call-time. You will be supported by one of our experienced birth professionals available 24/7 bringing the tools, techniques and experience of seasoned professionals having served the birth community for many decades combined.

We offer a monthly informational session for you to have an opportunity to get acquainted with each member of our team prior to your birth. This time of getting acquainted, connecting and answering FAQs is offered on once every month.
