BRIDGET DIVANE, DNP-Midwifery, CNM

Bridget always knew she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother to become a nurse and after witnessing her first birth while shadowing at a local hospital in high school, a seed was planted which has slowly grown into a blossoming career in midwifery. Bridget received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Saint Louis University in 2012 and began working as a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum nurse in a community hospital. While working with and learning from nurse midwives Bridget recognized a desire to play a more active role in supporting families throughout pregnancy and birth. Bridget saw midwives blending scientific knowledge with human compassion to support and uplift people and knew she was meant to become a midwife.

Bridget graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago  with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice specializing in Midwifery in 2019. Through her time as a nurse and midwife student Bridget gained a variety of experience at community hospitals, large teaching hospitals, an independent midwifery practice, and federally qualified free health clinics as well as both religiously-affiliated and publicly-owned health systems. While in midwifery school Bridget had the opportunity to study abroad at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden and a free community clinic in Haiti which exposed her to different healthcare systems and approaches to providing care.

Bridget started her career as a midwife in January 2020 at a blended OBGYN/midwifery practice in Northern Colorado and she quickly learned the challenges of providing midwifery care within a large, traditional healthcare system. Bridget is excited to be part of the team at DCBW where every client and family can receive the individualized, client-centered care and support they deserve. She strives to acknowledge each persons’ lived experience and work in partnership with clients and families as they navigate life’s many transitions. Bridget has a passion for pregnancy and supporting physiologic birth but also loves providing routine reproductive care especially discussing contraceptive options and sexual wellness.

When not working Bridget enjoys hunting for vintage vinyl records, weightlifting, talking about being from Chicago, and hanging out with her cat Echo.
